Invitation from the Chairman

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 13^th CLMC which we are very proud to be hosting this year’s Scientific Conference titled “Precision and Integration in Laboratory Medicine”. We would like to cordially welcome you all to experience what our Organizing Committee has put together a scientific and social program for the participants to enjoy and bring home nice memories of Hong Kong .

To recap the evolution of our CLMC, I must retell the time when groups of Medical Laboratory professionals from Mainland China , Taiwan and Hong Kong met in 1993 and decided to host a conference regularly and bring together other Chinese professionals from other land to learn and spread the knowledge of Medical Laboratory Sciences. In the summer of 1995, the First Conference was held in Taipei , Taiwan at which many delegates from Mainland China attended. The Second Conference was held in the historical City of Wuhan in Mainland China in October 1996. The 1997, it was Hong Kong’s turn to be the host of the Third Conference and it was fittingly that 1997 was also historical important year for Hong Kong, the end of British rule in Hong Kong and the sovereignty of Hong Kong returned to China on the first day of July 1997, indeed it was a very special, remarkable and meaningful event.

The Organizing Committee is very fortunate to have the full cooperation of the Administration of the City University and her Department of Biomedical Sciences. We are able to fully utilize the facilities of this beautiful and spacious campus for this 13^th Conference. We would like to take this opportunity to express our forever gratitude to the staff and the students of City U for their generosity and hospitality.

I would like to invite our friends and colleague from Mainland China, Taiwan and Macau to fully explore what Hong Kong could offer during their stay in Hong Kong.
