1^st NAMLS International Conference in Medical Laboratory Technology

An international conference, organised by Nepal Association for Medical Laboratory Science (NAMLS), will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal from April 6 to April 7 (Saturday & Sunday), 2002. The theme is "Medical Laboratory for Developing Countries".

Mr. C.M. Sharma, President of NAMLS, and Mr. N.R. Tuladhar, Chairman of the Organizing Committee presented the Welcome Message as follows,

"On the behalf of the organizing committee, we warmly invite you to attend the 1st NAMLS International Conference from April 6-7, 2002. This is the first time we hosting the event in Nepal. However, we promise you an educationally enriching and memorable experience in this Himalayan country.

In Nepal, laboratory techniques being used are either manual or semi-automatic. In the remote areas, there are no laboratories performing even the manual techniques. In those areas, the diagnosis and treatment is done empirically. Therefore, there is a great need of technologies suitable developing countries like Nepal. Hence, "Medical Laboratory Technology for Developing Countries" has been chosen as the theme of the conference. We are sure that this conference will be very useful moment in sharing the experiences laboratorians working in both developing and developed countries.

In addition, there will be a trade exhibition featuring medical laboratory equipments and other offerings from manufacturers.

The location of meeting is Kathmandu. Kathmandu is rich of colorful cultural heritage and is surrounded by hills. People are friendly and hospitable. There are several shopping areas in the city where many foreigners folk in. The climate in April is dry but neither hot nor cold and is pleasant spring season.

So, please do join us with your scientific paper and allow us the privilege to be your hosts here in Kathmandu.
