CHARACTERISTIC of Neutrophil, band

size

12-15 um in diameter

Cytoplasm

Acidophilic with many fine granules

Nucleus

A curved or coiled band

Chromatin

Clumped chromatin

The Committee for the Clarification of Nomenclature of Cells and Diseases of the Blood Forming Organs has defined a neutrophil band cell as "any cell of the granulocyte series which has a nucleus which could be described as a curved or coiled band, no matter how marked the indentation, if it does not completely segment the nucleus into lobes separated by a filament".
